5 Ways to Trick Yourself into Losing Weight

It’s a well known fact that working out and eating less will make you lose weight. But did you know there are several additional ways you can contribute to healthy weight loss, without a lot of work? The best part is that you can incorporate these hacks easily into your current lifestyle! (Note: Working out and eating clean are still the most efficient ways to lose weight. These hacks are just additional ways to jump-start your weight loss journey.)


Drink a glass of water before each meal. Water helps the body flush out toxins, but it also gives you the feeling of being “full.” Which means you won’t be as tempted to overeat, since you feel like you’ve already eaten half a meal as well. You could also add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to your water. This will help your body detox as well as prepare the digestive tract to better break down your food.


Walk as often as you can. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. If the weather is nice and you live in town, walk to the store to get your groceries and carry them home. Take short breaks throughout your day just to walk across the room (or building). This might feel weird at first but once it becomes a habit, you won’t regret it. A sedentary lifestyle is one of the biggest contributors to weight gain, so something as simple as frequent walking can make a huge difference in your health and weight.




Don’t buy more than a certain number of unhealthy snacks per week. If you tend to snack a lot (join the club!), finding ways to turn your bad habit into a healthy one will be crucial for your weight loss journey. One of the best ways to quit eating unhealthy junk foods is to not have them in your house. If they aren’t there, you can’t eat them, right? There are also healthier things to snack on than chips, candy, and pop. Find clean foods such as fruits, veggies, protein bars, yogurt, herbal teas, etc. that will offer the “fix” you need without working against your health.


100 squats per day. Before you let the big number scare you – let me explain. Squats are one of the best fat-burning exercises because they work the largest muscle groups in your body. So incorporating them into your daily routine is a great hack to help you lose weight faster! Make it your goal to get in 100 total per day. You could do 10 sets of 10, 20-30 before each meal, or 5 sets of 20 throughout the day. Get creative and find ways to make squats part of your routine! Note: If you sit at a desk all day, squats can also help combat poor posture and stiff joints and muscles, while also helping your body get rid of excess fat, which creates a double win situation for you!




Put down your silverware between each bite. This will help you to eat more slowly, which will make you feel full faster and eat less. When you force yourself to slow down while eating and chew each bite thoroughly, it will also make the food easier to digest, which puts a lot less stress on your digestive tract. A healthy digestive system will absorb nutrients properly and aid you in eliminating excess fat.
